Langkawi - Part 3

Some more photos when I visited Gunung Mat Cinchang and as usual the photos are in no chronological order.

This is a view from the other end of the curved bridge. The vista is magnificent. The island in the distant is the Tarutao island of Thailand. Details are as in the next photo below.

I'll help to re-write what is written on the board.

From this point, looking out to the sea, we are standing directly in front of Tarutao Island, Thailand which is located less than 5 kilometres away.

The island was used as a prison in the late 1930's. The existence of sharks and crocodiles in the surrounding sea and shore at that time ensured that only a few could escape alive.

Some of the bodies were swept by the sea current to this shore, hence the name Pasir Tengkorak or Sands of the Skull.

Once the waters around Tarutao was known for its feared pirates who raided passing merchant ships and dumped bodies of their victims to the sea.

Scary, yes?

This is the panorama view from this deck. A single image won't justify the awe of being there. Stitched panorama of 5 images taken in portrait format.
The Greatest View
This is the second phase of the cable car ride and it wasn't that scary compared to the first.

Acrophobia (from the Greek: ἄκρον, ákron , meaning "peak, summit, edge" and φόβος, phóbos, "fear") is an extreme or irrational fear of heights. It belongs to a category of specific phobias, called space and motion discomfort that share both similar etiology and options for treatment.
Acrophobia can be dangerous, as sufferers can experience a panic attack in a high place and become too agitated to get themselves down safely.

It happened to me when the cable car passed that pylon and approaching the steep summit. It even stopped halfway as there was a crosswind that swayed our cable car. Looking down hanging at about 200m-300m from the ground below strucked panic in me.
